Geological map of Alexander Island, Antarctic Peninsula (1:500 000 scale)

This double-sided map provides a topographic map on one side and a geological map on the other, both covering the same extent of Alexander Island and the surrounding islands. The maps cover Alexander, Rothschild, Charcot and Latady islands, as well as Wilkins, Bach and George VI ice shelves. Rymill Coast, on the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula is also covered.

The topographic map features details including the coastline, ice shelf extents, rock outcrop, contours, spot heights, bathymetry and place names. The position of Fossil Bluff field station is also shown, as well as the location of Antarctic Specially Protected areas. Terrain is indicated with hillshading, highlighting the large mountain ranges present on Alexander Island. An information panel is presented next to the main map, with a general overview about the region, text about the history of the region, and interesting information about place naming. Two smaller satellite image maps are also included, covering the Fossil Bluff area and the Ablation Valley / Ganymede Heights region.

The geological map summarises decades of research in the region and displays interpretations of key geological units, showing both exposed geology and inferred geology under ice or snow. A geological cross section from Brahms Inlet to Two Step Cliffs is presented in the top left corner of the page. A detailed legend and reference list is included next to the main map.
