SEM Facility

CASP houses a Zeiss EVO MA 15 variable pressure scanning electron microscope that is capable of imaging coated and uncoated samples. The SEM is equipped with a BSE detector and Oxford Instruments Ultim Max-100 EDS detector, which enable analysis of X-rays for compositional mapping and quantitative analysis of major elements and some trace elements. The associated AZtecFeature and AZtecMineral software is capable of particle analysis and automated mineralogy.

Academic researchers may access the facility by contacting [email protected].

Access accrues a small charge to contribute towards instrument running and maintenance costs.
