CASP and North Sea Core provide North Sea Triassic core workshop
CASP recently partnered with Henk Kombrink of North Sea Core CIC to deliver a core workshop for EBN B.V. in Utrecht, focusing on the Triassic succession of the Southern North Sea.
While Henk presented a variety of Early Triassic sandstone cores illustrating their reservoir potential for Geological Carbon Storage, CASP’s Simon Schneider explored the Middle to Late Triassic Haisborough Group, which forms the primary seal to the Bunter Sandstone CO2 Storage Complex.
Simon exhibited whole-core pieces to illustrate the 16 lithofacies identified in CASP’s detailed analysis of the SM14 core from North Yorkshire, the only continuous core of the Haisborough Group interval in the Southern North Sea Basin. The results of this study are documented in a comprehensive report that provides new insights into sedimentological heterogeneity and petrophysics of this key seal interval.
We would like to thank North Sea Core for the invitation to participate in the workshop and EBN B.V. for their warm welcome and engaging discussions.
